Required Boating Courses

State government laws require Boater Safety Training. The District of Columbia requires all boat operators complete a class. Maryland and Vigrinia requirements are based on age and type of boat. Follow the provided links to understand specific state requirements.

Our RSPS "Maryland Based" Boater Safety Class meets all state requirements! The class material introduces students to boating safety fundamentals, and our instructors bring practical expertise gained through their many years operating boats in Chesapeake and coastal waters. Our students graduate with basic knowledge in these boating safety topics and are prepared to continue to learn and develop boating skills.

Many students prefer the structured classroom environment where converstations can emphasize safety issues. Those who do not have time or prefer to work from home may take advantage of our nationally recognized "America´s Boating Course Version 3(ABC3)". You may order the material and study on line to learn the boating safety fundamentals. We encourage online ABC3 students to contact RSPS with questions or to take the formal boating safety examination.
